Queen Bee

Queen Bee

Merry Christmas to me--a gift from my friend Megann, of MegannArt designs--it's Lavin's new Queen Bee dress, based on the tattoo on my arm. I thin she came out perfectly!

Peak's Woods Lavin Fairy of Color (using the current Lolita body) is modeling, wearing glass eyes from Mint on Card (I think) and a default Peak's Woods wig.

You too can commission a gown from MegannArt when you visit her site or Etsy page.

New DollHeart release

There are lots of new goodies for preorder from DollHeart, available for preorder with an August delivery date, something for every BJD collector, I think!

I'm pleased to see the casual collection take off like this. Above, you can see Jacob and Sydney, sized for MSD and similar. They are available separately for $84.90 each or as a set for $169.90.

Above, sized for SD13 and DDM, you can see Shelby ($99.90) and Tyler ($129.90), sized for SD17 Boy/65cm Boys. You can also save a little when you purchase these two as a set for $219.90.

In the YoSD section, you can also preorder Andrew for $79.90.

And above, you can see Riley for $79.90. Many pieces of the outfits are available separately, too.

As part of the Rainbow Fairy series, Oona is sized for slim MSD and Unoa. It is truly adorable, a fairy a la DollHeart, $89.90.

Cirno is the YoSD size Rainbow fairy, and she's super cute in blue. Her outfit is $79.90. The other two fairies are sized for Azone Pure Neemo.

There is also a new style of outfit available, too--a fantasy cat, I'd call it. Burmese, sized for MSD boy (right) is $84.90. Burmilla, sized for MSD girl, is $84.90. You can save some in purchasing these as a set for $159.90. The outfits include overalls (for Burmese) and a dress (Burmilla) and all accessories, plus a tail, cat ear hat or headband, and paw gloves.

Yeru: the quest for contemporary clothing

Yeru by alington
Yeru, a photo by alington on Flickr.
My quest for contemporary styles is going well, especially with my last (near excessive) Peak's Woods order. I used a 30% discount certificate, which caused some serious spending--three tiny tan dolls and lots of Nine9Style fashions.

I really love the styling of these clothes! They are well made, though not lined. I think the lack of lining makes them lay well on the BJD bodies, though.

The jeans--OMG--fabulous! Yeru is modeling them here. They including a front zip, stretch denim, working pockets (three or four in the front, and two in the back), belt loops, and real grommets. Also, real flat felled seams are used, and they aren't too thick.

The hoodie includes a matching tank top as well, and it's perfectly scaled--in fabric print and weight. Both are loose fit, so many different dolls could wear the outfit well.

I can't wait for more dolls to model these fabulous new outfits!

Dolly Bureau, Volume I - A new pattern book by Megann Zabel

MSD/1:4 scale BJD patterns
MSD/1:4 doll patterns, a photo by theartofmegann on Flickr.
Doll patterns in a book, all to scale, with clear instructions in English, designed for beginners to intermediate dolly couture fans? Sounds too good to be true--but it isn't! Check out Megann Zabel's newly released book, Dolly Bureau Volume 1, available now!

The retail price of the book is $27.95, and you can currently find it for sale from DollyBureau.comAmazonDenver Doll Emporium, The Doll PeddlarThe Swell Shop, and also at Azone's booth in doll shows in Japan. This price gets you a 100-page full color book, in 8.5x11 size. Inside, you'll find 14 full outfits (lots of mix-and-match pieces) for various dolls.

Volume I includes outfits for Momoko, Poppy Parker/Misaki, Chip (FR:Homme), and 1:4 (MSD) and 1:12 (Lati Yellow and Pukifee) sized BJDs. Additionally, lots of full-color photographs display other dolls, such as Pullip, Odeco, J-doll, Tiny Betsy McCall, Model Muse Barbie, Ken, Limhwa To You, and Liv. The patterns are to scale, and require only tissue paper to transfer.

Megann Zabel, the owner of MegannArt, has a background in fine arts and design, which really shows in this publication. The attention to detail in her patterns, illustrations, and overall design of the book is amazing. The book is beautiful--it is a must-have for any fashion doll fan, in addition to the budding designer.

In addition to her gorgeous layout and photography, I must add that the instructions are really wonderful. Megann includes a step-by-step photo tutorial of the first pattern, which--for me--is particularly helpful. Even if you have no (or limited) prior knowledge of sewing in smaller sizes, the supply lists, techniques, and clear instructions (such as what exactly "easing" means), all make me want to try again.

Additionally, the author invites her readers to share the results of their endeavors online. While the patterns are designed for personal use, you can join the group on Flickr here--plus sneak a peek at the terrific patterns inside the book. Personally, I am in love with Megann's photography!

This is Megann's first publication, and I happen to know Volume II is in the works now. I'm thrilled to see more from her, and am so excited to see this new line of easy-to-use patterns.

This book would make the perfect gift for a young doll collector, in addition to those of us who have been collecting for a while. My nine year-old Lauren is really inspired, and I hope to be sharing some of her creations shortly!

Wake Up Lottie

Wake Up Lottie by alington
Wake Up Lottie, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Wake-Up Lottie (Peak's Wood Fairy of Color) has new blonde eyelashes. I think they look just stunning on her, but I'm probably biased.

She's dressed in an outfit by Little Moda, which I found on Etsy, and a wig from Dollmore. Her shoes (you can see them in other photos) are from Mint on Card.

You can see additional photos on Flickr.

Hybrid heaven...

My morphing collection by alington
My morphing collection, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Oh, there's something especially satisfying (to me) about a hybrid BJD. Even when the resin colors don't match perfectly, I do love it when the dolls come together perfectly.

Front and center, it's Peak's Woods gorgeous (and rarely seen) white skin Viyol (with a special Glamour face-up (by Peak's Woods, when they were still offering custom face-ups). She's been placed on a white skin Zaoll body by Dollmore. This elegant body is slim and short, perfect for Peak's Woods demure and sweet faces.

It's quiet a stark contrast to her rock 'n' roll outfit, which partly belongs to Kisha (also by Peak's Woods, created by Corona, I believe), with the shirt by Beach Girl Nikita. Her boots, wig, and choker are from DollHeart, and earring from Tonner Doll.

Rouge Rococo

Rouge Rococo by alington
Rouge Rococo, a photo by alington on Flickr.
I never thought the day would come in which I'd sell a Rococo dress from my collection. But it has, and it's not the first dress I'm selling. It's actually the second. Ack! Can you believe it?

This is a limited edition Volks dress set from the Dolpa 26 from last year (I think), and it's called Rouge Rococo. It's sized for many dolls: SD13, SD16, SDG, Dollfie Dream, and Dollfie Dream Dynamite. My model is Iplehouse nYID Rexy, who can wear this size pretty much perfectly--she has the large (not quite glamour) bust size.

If you're interested, check out my listing on Den of Angels or the DollPage Show & Sell.

Casual Kisha

Kisha by alington
Kisha, a photo by alington on Flickr.
My casual kick continues with Peak's Woods Kisha (on a standard Fairies of Color body) in a DollHeart wig and boots and another wonderful new outfit by Little Moda, also on Etsy. Just perfect!

It's stretchy, so it will fit many of my larger girls, too. I'm simply thrilled.

Claudine, casual.

Claudine by alington
Claudine, a photo by alington on Flickr.
I'm morphing my collection from Rococo to casual. That's one wonderful thing about BJDs: when you get sick of one style, you can (usually) easily switch to another.

Claudine (Peak's Woods Goldie) is dressed in a new outfit from Little Moda, an Etsy shop I recently discovered. I'm really liking the style and easy fit of the clothing. Everything is stretch, so my larger girls should be able to wear these as well. The clothes are layered--a sheer long-sleeved shirt, vest, skirt, leggings, plaid skirt, and hair bow--and well made, and all for $50. Not bad at all!

Goldie is not used to wearing heels this high (they are from DollHeart). I think her wig is either from Leeke or Luts. I can never remember.

You can see a few additional photos on Flickr.

Yur

Yur by alington

EID Yur (Iplehouse) has finally gotten some clothing she can wear. She's thrilled not to have to be totally naked anymore!

She's wearing a black halter top dress, beige open knit sweater, and black glitter lingerie set--all by Iplehouse.

Moonlight Waltz

Moonlight Waltz by alington
Moonlight Waltz, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Tonner Doll's new Moonlight Waltz (for their line of vinyl 22" American Model dolls) has arrived, and Rogita Blossom (Peak's Woods) loves her new look.

The outfit is a perfect fit--no alterations were necessary to put it on her Absolute Beauty body. Sometimes the sleeves are a little narrow for the BJD's hands in American Model outfits. With another outfit, if I recall, I had to open the back seam to fit her hips through. But Moonlight Waltz is a perfect fit.

It's very well made--the ruffles and details on the hips and the skirt are just amazing, and the one-shoulder design is lovely, too.

The included wig is sized closer to 7/8, so this size doll can't wear it (but MSD sized dolls should be able to). Plus the shoes are small, and I haven't tried the gloves--though I assume they will be a little narrow for her hands.

Check out Flickr for more photos.

Sleeping Cue in Rococo

Sleeping Cue in Rococo by alington
Sleeping Cue in Rococo, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Looking to add a little French Court to your BJD collection? Let me help.

I've just posted a FS/WTT post of Den of Angels for this amazing Rococo styled sack-back gown. You can see more photos on Flickr.

I'm asking $125 for the gown (single piece with zipper closure), and an additional $50 if you require the support hoop skirt (shown here), plus an adorable soft blonde DollHeart ponytail wig for just $35.

I can ship anywhere, though my best guess will be a flat rate priority box will be easiest.

Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

The Glamour dress is available in blue (shown above) for $210 or also in a pink version for $225. You can add the shoes for $32.90. The gowns are created by Atelier Soda.

Both versions include:
